REVIEW: Darkest Hour by Meg Cabot

Darkest Hour (The Mediator, #4)
What - or who - is buried in Susannah's backyard?

When the nineteenth-century ghost of Maria de Silva wakes her up in the middle of the night, Suze knows this is no ordinary visitation - and not just from the knife at her throat, either. In life, Maria was the fiancée of Jesse - the same Jesse who was murdered a hundred and fifty years before. The same Jesse Suze is in love with.

Maria threatens Suze: The backyard construction must cease. Suze has a pretty good idea what - or rather, who - Maria doesn't want found. But in solving Jesse's murder, will Suze end up losing him forever?

NOTICE: THIS IS THE FOURTH INSTALLMENT IN A SERIES. THERE MAY BE SPOILERS FOR THE PREVIOUS BOOKS.

MY THOUGHTS
This is definitely my favorite of the series!

Suze's stepfather and stepbrothers are digging in the backyard for a new hot tub and find an old box of letters from Maria de Silva to Hector de Silva (Jesse). Maria de Silva happens to be the cousin that Jesse was supposed to marry, before he died and Maria ran off with a sketchy guy named Diego. Later, Suze wakes up to Maria with a knife at her throat, threatening Suze to basically harm her and her family if she doesn't destroy the letters and stop her family from digging. Suze, of course, ignores this and decides to find out more from the letters and wants to learn more about Jesse's life. She ends up going deeper than she realized and questions if she will lose Jesse forever.

Really, I am reading this series solely for Suze and Jesse. I hardcore ship them. This is why I like this book the most in this series, the fact that we finally get to know more about Jesse! This book is ENTIRELY about Jesse and I loved that! Though, so much happened in this book!

This series is very fun and mostly light-hearted, but I must say, this book is true to the title and is the darkest of the bunch! Like I said, so much happened, and this book was very action-packed! I'm being all vague and rambly, but there are so many things I want to talk about, but can't because of spoilers! Let me say that I loved how all of the things just brought up more and more things that, really, made me feel like the series is going somewhere!

Also, I very much liked the end! Not just the last few lines, but I really liked the last few chapters. It was very interesting and different from the other books. It also made me feel things.

IN CONCLUSION
I probably win the award for 'vaguest review', but I really want you guys to be surprised! We learn so much in this book and so much happens! This is my favorite so far and I can't wait to read the next book!
Let the shipping commence!

I hereby give this book
3.5 Wheels
Meaning: I liked it, but I almost loved it
